Hella Jongerius


Hella Jongerius (1963) graduates from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1993 and after that works on a number of projects for Droog Design. In 2001 she founds her own design studio and in 2012 she becomes art director for design at furniture manufacturer Vitra and a few years later she gets the same role for the Finnish company Artek. Hella Jongerius also makes industrial designs for various companies, including porcelain for Tichelaar Makkum, vases and wall hangings for IKEA, shoes for Camper, a candlestick for Swarovski crystal, Danskina design rugs, textile designs for Maharam to be used on a Nike shoe, a garden set for Kettal and much more. She also designs aircraft for KLM and contributed to the refurbishment of the Delegates Lounge at the UN headquarters in New York. Hella Jongerius's work is attracting international attention and her designs have been shown in various museum exhibitions and are included in the collections of museums and collectors. At art auctions you will occasionally come across an item by Hella Jongerius, for example a vase for Makkum, a sofa or the well-known coat hooks for Vitra or one of the many other design products.
