Val Saint Lambert

The Belgian based Val Saint Lambert glass factory (also known as Val St. Lambert or VSL) started in 1826 with the production of glassware. The two founders of Val Saint Lambert bought an old abbey and brought in glass makers of the Vonêche glass factory. In the beginning the factory sells a lot of glassware in Belgium, the Netherlands and Russia and becomes known worldwide. In its hayday just after 1900 the factory employs over 5000 workers who make over 100.000 glass objects in a day. Just after the first World War the Val Saint Lambert factory get into trouble, the demand goes down and it has to close some of its locations. Nowadays, Val Saint Lambert glassware is popular among collectors and you can often find it in art and antique auctions.
